The Major Change

Ever heard that it is okay to change your major? I am sure that people have told you that most people change their majors once or twice before they graduate. Well, I never thought it would happen to me, but it did. At the start of school, my freshman year I was so set on having my major picked and had this grand idea that I am going to study this major, love it and then make a career out of it. Well, that didn't really happen... so flashed forward to the start of my sophomore year I have changed my major and I am actually really excited. I went from History to Hospitality I know a bit of a change. Not going to lie to your guys it was not an easy thing for me to do. I went into college thinking that I don't want to change my major. That if I changed my major if meant that failed not only myself but also the people that had supported me when I first made my decision to study history. The hardest part in switching my major is that fact that I don't know a single thing about the field of Hospitality, but I guess that is what school is for right? One thing I did find out is that I am afraid of change. I like my bubble my bubble is safe it's where I know nothing changes. So switching into a major that I didn't know a single thing about was scary for me, but it got me out of my bubble. Change can be scary and it is normal I know it is easy to stay in your bubble, heck I have been doing it. You see though it is not the idea that the bubble is breaking it is the idea that the bubble is expanding you are adding more things to it does pushing its boundaries every day. That thing that might scare you one day might be the thing that makes your life perfect or even better. So don't be afraid of change, after all, if we were afraid of change then the world would never change.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
