For those who claim Pokémon GO is just a game - it's not. Pokémon GO is the latest addition to the many forms of entertainment, courtesy of the Pokémon series. The game makes its players physically walk around and go catch pokémon. The game has access to your camera as well as your location, so it's aware of where you are at all times and helps makes the pokémon catching experience more fun! The game also allows you to rename your pokémon to what you desire, and it allows its trainers to battle each other once they've reached a certain level (level five) at the pokémon gyms that are set around, many being the location of actual gyms.
Theres an abundance of people who claim that the game doesn't deserve all the hype that it's getting, but how can that be?
From what's been seen so far, Pokémon GO is revolutionary. The game has finally given people, especially this lazy generation of teenagers, a reason to get up and go outside. An amazing thing about the game is that it is not catered towards any age group specifically, everyone is welcome to play it! But, those who have grown up with the Pokémon series are understandably much more avid users. Also, the game has aided people in making new friends and acquaintances, there's been various instances in which Pokémon trainers have united together at "pokéstops", which are oftentimes areas of local parks, to share the new additions to their pokédex, which is where all the pokémon you've encountered or caught are stored.
Pokémon GO has lit the dead spark of the Pokémon fandom. Ever since the release of the game, various businesses and stores have restocked in merchandise or have even set up perks for hunters and trainers!
The game has another side to it too, though. Pokémon GO has led people to find dead bodies that have been left in odd places- parks, lakes, you name it. To continue, there have been instances where kidnappers or robbers have set up pokéstops to attract people to them. After various hideous stories were released on the news, an abundance of parents have raised concerns that the game may be unsafe.
Whether you are part of the fandom or not, you can't deny that this game has swept the nation as well as social media. No matter how 'lame' people may think the game is, the positive effects of this game as opposed to any other can not be ignored. But remember, don't knock it 'til you try it!
