The Ultimate Playlist To Make Every College Senior Forget They're A Senior

Picture this. The year is 2016, school just started, it's your first night out as a college student, and you are awkwardly starting to make new friends. You had no idea what to wear, so you look out of place, but you don't even care. As you look around and begin to process that this is what life is going to be like for the next four years, "Closer" by The Chainsmokers comes on. You take another swig of your drink. Life is good.

Songs have a way of attaching themselves to certain memories and times in your head, and lately, I have been feeling nostalgic about the good old tunes from the 2016-2017 school year. So, for any college senior out there who is feeling the same way, I made a list of the best songs from our freshman year of college. You can thank me later.

1. "Closer" by The Chainsmokers

"Closer" by The Chainsmokers

Self-explanatory. You could not go ANYWHERE without hearing this song freshman year. If you didn't know every word, what were you doing?

2. "Broccoli" by DRAM & Lil Yachty

"Broccoli" by DRAM and Lil Yachty

The blend of these two voices is simply exquisite. The beat in the background, the catchy lyrics - what's not to love?!

3. "iSpy" by KYLE feat. Lil Yachty

If this song wasn't an immediate confidence boost for you, then I'm not sure if we were listening to the same song.

4. "Congratulations" by Post Malone

Everything is chill, everyone's dancing around having a good time, then the beat for the chorus drops. You suddenly catch yourself jumping up and down and going INSANE, feeling like the floor might cave in. The frat dudes all around you are absolutely loving it.

5. "Bad and Boujee" by Migos feat. Lil Uzi Vert

Might I suggest the remix with "Can't Touch This" in the background? Absolute banger.

6. "No Problem" by Chance The Rapper feat. Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz

Another song that was an immediate confidence boost. Also, it's Chance The Rapper. Enough said.

7. "Run Up" by Major Lazer, PARTYNEXTDOOR, & Nicki Minaj

"Run Up" by Major Lazer, PARTYNEXTDOOR, & Nicki Minaj

This song was the ultimate pregame song. There is no better feeling than singing this at the top of your lungs and dancing around like an idiot with your friends.

8. "Black Beatles" by Rae Sremmurd

Does anyone remember the mannequin challenge?? This song was a bop before the challenge, and that just took it to the next level.

9. "Dan Bilzerian" by T-Pain feat. Lil Yachty

This song will never get old. If you're looking for an immediate pick me up, this is the song for you.

10. "Doses & Mimosas" by Cherub

Another song that is self-explanatory. Also, another song that makes me feel like an absolute bada** every time I listened to it.

11. "Party" by Chris Brown feat. Usher & Gucci Mane

If we didn't hear this song at the pregame, we would play it right before we left. Nothing gets you more ready to party than the song "Party," am I right?

12. "Post to Be" by Omarion feat. Chris Brown & Jhene Aiko

"Post to Be" by Omarion feat. Chris Brown & Jhene Aiko

This song has so many layers, it's unreal. You can't help but love every single part and sing and dance just as crazy and loud for every part!

13. Literally anything Pitbull

This might have been a phase for my friend group, but name any Pitbull song, and I'm all over it. Mr. Worldwide forever.

I hope any senior in college reading this blasts these songs the next time they're feeling nostalgic about the good old days or getting down about how old they are. Nothing says "I can still hang" like chugging to the chorus of "Closer," so go show those babies how it's done!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
