Spicing up your house decor can be so much fun. I believe that each person has a different aesthetic depending on their personality. One thing that I think everyone can agree on, is that each house needs at least a few plants. Having something organic and living makes the house that much more welcoming. However, I know that picking the perfect plant can be tricky, depending on how much airflow and sunlight your house has. Below are a few of my favorite plants that don't demand a green thumb from its owners.

1. Spider Plant

I have heard and read many times that these plants are the most adaptable and easiest plants to grow. The Spider Plant can undergo lots of neglect if you forget to water it a few times. In fact, letting it dry out sometimes can even help the plant thrive and reduce root rot.

2. Lavander

Lavander is known for its numerous uses, especially for essential oils. Lavenders calming scent is what makes it a popular use in aromatherapy. I personally have a pot of lavender growing on my window sill next to my bed. Make sure that you are giving this plant around 8 hours of sunlight a day, and arent over watering it. Other than that, it is an easy plant to take care of. You can even trim it to use as potpourri!

3. Peace Lily

The name of this flowering plant is compelling enough. The Peace Lily requires little sunlight, and will even warn you when it needs water by its telltale droop. This plant is also known for its air puffing benefits by breaking down gases like carbon monoxide.

4. Aloe Vera Plant

The Aloe Vera Plant is best-known for its healing properties. It is mainly used as a moisturizer and can even be used to heal cuts, as a drink supplement, and even for hair products. Like many other plants, Aloe Vera grows well in pots and will purify the air. Be careful to not over water this plant, and to put in where there is plenty of sunlight.

5. English Ivy

Growing ivy in your home is a beautiful, lively touch, especially with its variety in shades of color. It will bring life into your house with its organic spirals. One thing to be sure of when maintaining your ivy is to dust it regularly because the dust sticks to its moist leaves often. English Ivy can also help reduce mold within your household, helping those who suffer from mold allergens.

6. Rubber Tree

If you live somewhere with limited sunlight or don't have plant space where there is a lot of sun, a Rubber Tree might be what you're looking for. This plant doesn't need a lot of sunlight in order to thrive.Their large leaves also can help purify carbon monoxide levels in the air.

7. Philodendron Plant

Philodendron is another easy house care plant. Unlike most plants, they require the same maintenance year round. They are also especially good at absorbing xylene, a toxic liquid. I have had a Philodendron Plant for several years and it continues to grow beautifully.

Choosing the perfect plant can be hard, but with a little research, you are bound to find the perfect plant for the environment of your home. Wheather you are looking for a plant for decoration, or to clean the air, these plants can add a little zen to your place.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
