Pizza Crust & Sorority Rush: Why They Are the Same Thing

At first you're lost, there's just so many toppings and sizes to chose from! It is normal to feel overwhelmed or nervous about deciphering what exact pizza you want to order.

You finally settle on the pizza that you can’t help but still crave: the original, the heartbreaker, you cannot stop thinking about it. Pepperoni, perhaps. After making what seems to be the hardest decision in your life, you then question yourself. Should I really commit to this pizza? Am I going to regret this? Do I want garlic sticks instead? Am I ready to devote my body and soul to these 1500 calories? The answer is yes.

Ordering that pizza is the best decision you will make all year. Ordering that pizza might cost you some pocket change, but damn is it worth the satisfaction you will gain from it. You excitingly call in ready to commit. Best-case scenario, THEY ANSWER. They respond with a, "we are so happy to serve you”. Immediately, you realize how lucky you are to have found a committed pizzeria that will still help you out at 2:57 a.m.

Maybe they don’t answer. Maybe they are closed. Inevitably, you feel a little sadness, possibly a single slow falling tear running down your cheek. Until you realize that the pizzeria that’s actually closer to your dorm is still open. You call, body slightly shaking, mind racing; they answer. You nearly scream and cry all at once because you realize just how important this pizza is to you. You request your order, and patiently wait for them to confirm. They reply claiming you will receive a call soon. You wait, and wait, counting the seconds, lying on the floor staring at your dated ceiling panels. Genuine happiness fills your heart when the deliveryman calls to inform you that your pizza has arrived, you made it sis.

You run downstairs (tears might flow, that’s ok) and you stand there next to a complete stranger, telling them you love them and you actually might mean it. Turns out, that pizza that you ordered, the pizza you were nervous and shaky about ordering, ends up being the perfect pizza for you. The most fantastic, cheesy, wipe-your-hands-on-your-boxers-and-not-care kind of good. You realize that taking that leap of faith and ordering that forsaken pie was the greatest thing you have done in your 19 yeas of existence. So order that damn pizza, and enjoy every last bite.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
