5 Perks Of Working At Barnes & Noble

About a month and a half ago, I got a job at Barnes and Noble as a bookseller and a barista. I was cross trained and spend my days conversing with customers about best sellers and brewing up caffeinated concoctions. I've always loved books and so being around them as well as coffee all day long makes my soul smile. Here are 5 perks I've found thus far while working at America's favorite bookstore.

1. I'm around books and coffee all day. Could it get any better than that?

2. I get 30 % off the store merchandise and 50 % off at the cafe.

3. I get to talk about my favorite books and encourage customers to read them.

4. We are allowed to take out current best sellers, for free.

5. I get to do something that I love and to me, that makes my job absolutely and 100 % worth it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.
