As many of you may already know, Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center has hosted a variety of distinguished musical artists throughout the years. These musical performances have ranged from Tiesto and Avicci, electro-house music sensations, to rock legend Bon Jovi and hiphop superstar, Kendrick Lamar.
There was a lot of delight throughout Happy Valley in the beginning of September, when it was announced another renowned musical act would be taking the stage at Bryce Jordan Center. On September 6th, 2013, Jay-Z confirmed the dates for his upcoming “Magna Carter World Tour,” and luckily for Penn State students, he decided to perform State College, Penn. on Jan. 31. If you didn’t stop by the Hub the day tickets went on sale, or see complaints on your Twitter feed from angry peers, then you missed a massive line of students waiting for hours on end to purchase tickets. As January flies by and the date gets closer, excitement is in the air for dedicated Jay-Z fans.
Over winter break, even more exciting news was announced. On Jan. 7, Kanye West, a prominent hip-hop star, known for being a skillful songwriter and record producer, an entrepreneur, husband to Kim Kardashian and the man who interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech in 2009, announced the dates for his 2014 Yeezus tour.
Kanye will bring his Yeezus tour to State College on Thursday, Feb. 13, not too long after Jay-Z takes the stage. Tickets for Kanye’s performance went on sale on Jan. 9, however, tickets are still being sold on Ticketmaster and various ticket websites. Penn State students will receive a student discount when purchasing tickets ($20 off floor access and $10 off reserved seating).
The Kanye West concert is not to be missed. Allie Rothstein, a sister of Alpha Sigma Alpha and a Kanye West enthusiast, says, “Kanye West is an unbelievable performer. You will definitely regret it if you don’t purchase a ticket to his concert!”
