Most of us have had some kind of hurt or trial that we were forced to face. We go through it and sometimes, it seems like it will be impossible to get through. There can't possibly be a good outcome of my pain. There is no way to make joy out of this suffering. However, all trials lead us to bring glory to God, if we have the patience and understanding to trust in His faithfulness.
Philippians 1:12-14 says, "Christian brothers, I want you to know that what has happened to me has helped spread the Good News. Everyone around here knows why I am in prison. It is because I preached about Jesus Christ. All the soldiers who work for the leader of the country know why I am here. Because of this, most of my Christian brothers have had their faith in the Lord made stronger. They have more power to preach the Word of God without fear." As Paul wrote this letter in prison, he never lost the vision the outcome would have. His imprisonment led many to God. Even though Paul was in prison, the gospel was still advancing. That's exactly how we should respond to our trials. Even in the midst of our darkest valley, we should first realize we are not alone. Our situation should not change our vocation. We should always be leaning towards God and telling others about our trials so that the gospel can continue to progress.
Continuing in Philippians 1:20-25, Paul says, "I hope very much that I will have no reason to be ashamed. I hope to honor Christ with my body if it is by my life or by my death. I want to honor Him without fear, now and always. To me, living means having Christ. To die means that I would have more of Him. If I keep on living here in this body, it means that I can lead more people to Christ. I do not know which is better. There is a strong pull from both sides. I have a desire to leave this world to be with Christ, which is much better. But it is more important for you that I stay. I am sure I will live to help you grow and be happy in your faith."
Our purpose, He guides us. Our sorrows, He carries us. Let's live for Jesus, not ourselves. Completely confident that our sorrows are taken care of, and we can move on to share our story and glorify God.
