Open Letter To College Students On Finals Week

Finals week can be rough, and you may want to quit, but I promise it will get better.

Finals week is probably the hardest week of each semester. The week is full of all-nighters, overeating and lots of calls home. I found myself knee deep in notes and a handful of scantrons my very first finals week. I was scared and confused on which way was the best to study, and honestly, I almost dropped out.

I know it was really silly now that I look back on it, but I didn't know how I was going to make it through. I know that I am not the only one to feel that way so to whoever you are I promise from the bottom of my heart you got this. It is hard to see the end of the tunnel as you run from test to test cramming in those last minute facts or equations. It is stressful but in the long run, it is worth it I promise.

If I would have dropped out my first semester I would have missed out on so many opportunities and never would have met my best friend. A missed opportunity can only fill us with regret, that's what my mom tells me when I feel unsure. College isn't just about going class to class and taking tests and then getting your degree. It is also full of friends, adventures, food, and so much more, college is whatever YOU make it.

So if you want to let one week hold you back from you being the best you can be then I am sorry. But if you power through it with hard work and lots of mac and cheese cups you sound like me! (I highly recommend mac and cheese cups over Ramen noodles for a study snack!)

When finals are finally over and your suitcase is packed sitting by the door breathe you have time to relax before next semester. You have this I promise as long as you are doing your best there is nothing to worry about. You made it through another semester, which means you can do it again! Good luck on your finals!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
