Dear Fall,
Now that you have officially returned, I thought it would be a good idea to show you your deserved appreciation from me. Growing up, I was never truly a fan of yours. I had always been that girl that spent three of the four seasons wishing it was summer again.
To me, you were the haunted time of the year, this, of course, is due to the notorious holiday within you. When I was younger, I enjoyed getting the candy, but later realized that I was incapable of handling anything remotely scary. Later, I seemed to connect the thought of you to Halloween and all of the horrors I have always hated. By doing this, I ruined the image of you for many years and would dread the time when my favorite season would end and you would begin. And for this, I apologize.
After witnessing the start of the change in the quantities of leaves here at Ohio University, I suppose I am catching the contagious excitement for you. When everyone looks to you as their favorite time of year, I can't help but see your beauty.
The first time I visited Ohio University was last October. The trees were filled with colors, and naturally, I was astounded by how incredible the campus looked. You played a very big part of this.
There also are so many amazing aspects about you that I had previously overlooked. Such as all of the seasonal tastes you hold, ranging from caramel apples to pumpkin everything. Not to mention the cozy clothes and the scarves that make for the cutest attire.
I have also taken for granted all of the fun activities that are specific to when you are around. Whether that is hayrides, corn mazes, or going to pumpkin patches, I cannot believe I have underestimated how happy you are and more importantly, how happy you can make me.
Don't get me wrong, I am and will always be a summer girl. My connection and love for the water will triumph just about anything. But I am not afraid to admit my previous dislike for you. I am now ready to take a step back and see you for your true colors, pun intended, and enjoy every aspect of what you have to offer.
A New Fan of Yours,
Megan
