For those who aren't familiar with "Red Table Talk," it's a Facebook Watch show featuring Jada Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris. They go on to discuss trending topics with guests, and one of their most recent guests was none other than Olivia Jade, the daughter of Lori Loughlin.
Now, as most people know, Olivia was involved in what is probably the world's largest college bribery scandal.
In March of 2019, Olivia's parents, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli, were charged with paying $500,000 to USC to get their daughters into college. They also forged pictures of their daughters on a row team to bribe their way in. While Olivia and her sister went into hiding after the news broke out, her parents had to prepare themselves for time behind bars.
Olivia, who was pretty popular on YouTube at the time she was accepted into USC, had recorded herself saying she was most excited for parties at her university rather than learning anything.
She was an influencer for many brands and got dropped soon after the news came out, which is one of the reasons Adrienne felt that Olivia didn't belong on "Red Table Talk." Adrienne even went on to tell Olivia that she felt Olivia didn't need the platform because, at the end of the day, she's white and she's privileged and she'll be okay.
Olivia agreed and acknowledged her white privilege.
Adrienne went on to say that if it was a person of color, the situation would have been completely different, and Olivia went on to agree with her. Olivia could have easily uploaded a video to YouTube to address what happened, but instead, she chose "Red Table Talk" because she wanted a safe space to share her voice, and she felt that "Red Table Talk" was exactly that.
