When the clock struck midnight on October 1st, I couldn't contain my excitement. My favorite month and the best month was upon us! It's not just Halloween that makes October so great, it's the weather, the fashion, and the spirit (boo!) that brings so much joy to me and many others. You can drink warm beverages and watch "Halloweentown" while snuggling with your bestie in a fluffy sweater — that's what this month is about.

1. Sweater weather

October has the perfect temperature for wearing sweaters. So, take out your fall/winter suitcase and filter that closet because it sweater-wearing time!

2. Every day is Halloween Eve

It is honestly acceptable to be in Halloween-mode from October 1st to the 29th. Go ahead and decorate your room with pumpkins, ghosts, and anything spooky — I sure am.

3. So much color!

The surrounding trees and plant life are so beautiful at this time. It's crazy how the most astounding colors of leaves are when they're between life and death. Take time to plan a hike or capture some photos because this scenery isn't here for long!

4. Freeform's (or ABC Family for the elders) "13 Nights of Halloween"

Though most of us are mad that ABC Family is now called Freeform, we can still be happy that they continued "13 Nights of Halloween." "From Hocus Pocus" to "The Nightmare Before Christmas" to "Halloweentown" (plus "Halloweentown 2: Kalabar's Revenge" and "Halloweentown High"), your nights will be full of nostalgic cheer.

5. Not too hot, not too cold

Want to wear shorts and a t-shirt? You sure can. Shorts and a long sleeve? Yup. Sweater and jeans? Of course. T-shirt and jeans? I think you get my point.

6. Scary movie lovers unite!

I love everything about scary movies. The thrill and anticipation, the gore, and the questionable plot lines are so fun! But, the best part is scaring your friends that hate horror movies.

7. Costume parties

So, you can't go trick-or-treating anymore (or at least you shouldn't be), but now there are many costume parties to go to! Try to make your costume different from others' though, you don't want to add one more person into the space-girl/cowboy/sexy cat category.

8. The nose knows

Pumpkin? Apples? Caramel? Cider? October has tons of smells that come from comforting candles to your own oven. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride that is Nose Heaven.

9. Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas are *right* around the corner

You waited 31 days for Halloween, so the next couple of weeks until Thanksgiving is nothing. October is the month of holiday prepping and getting you ready for college breaks. As soon as this month is over, you'll be cruising into Fall Break and then the end of the semester! Thanks, October, for making the month before holidays and break so fun!

10. Perfect time for football

You can finally wear your long-sleeve college apparel with jeans at football games without sweating. It won't be too cold that you regret going! Plus, October is the month of Homecoming, which brings awesome college spirit and some cool events!

11. "Riverdale", "Stranger Things", etc. return!

I can't wait to see my favorite gang from Indiana and to know how Eleven is doing. "Stranger Things" looks like it's going to be amazing and have a great plot. Don't even get me started on "Riverdale" because I'm addicted and have been waiting for months to know what happened at the end of the season. I also miss F.P.'s face... I love him. October means we can binge watch amazing shows!

12. Comfort food and drinks

October is the perfect time to make some hearty soups, use a lot of gravy, and eat a lot of bread. Plus, hot cider, hot chocolate, and those drinks from Starbucks are readily available.

13. Halloween... duh

You got that right, Marnie. Halloween shapes the spirit and atmosphere of October. It lets us be spooky and enjoy spooky things, too. This holiday (and this month) allows us to be ourselves, do what we love, and have fun doing it.

Thank you, October, for being the best month and for bringing out the best me.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
