Christmas and New Years Day, Thanksgiving, Hanukah, Kwanza, and other holidays are wonderful to celebrate throughout the year. Don't get me wrong, each and every one of our annual holidays are important and have a lot of meaning to most people; but October and all of its vibes that come with it are where the real party is at during each year. The weather, the clothes, the smells and the food are just a few things - but there's more to why October is so amazing than just that.

1. Spoopy moments.

Being a Floridian, there are lots of perks to enjoying October, especially living in an urban town where lots of things are. An annual park event, called Halloween Horror Nights, takes place in Universal Studios Florida Theme Parks. Though it's a little costly, this event is a huge kick because going in a group makes the scariness of the jumps and noises even more enjoyable. Aside from Halloween Horror Nights, going out with friends in October sets off a celebratory vibe to people that say: relaxation. Another popular Florida location in October is Walt Disney World Resort's Magic Kingdom. Beginning in August, Magic Kingdom Park decorates the entire park with pumpkins, lights, and the characters put on amazing shows and parades.

2. Sweater weather.

The breeze gets stronger as the heat dies down in this time of the year. October is not only a very happy and perky month outside of its spoopy moments, but when the weather cools down, it motivates people to go outside and spend more time outdoors. Being outdoors during the fall, especially in October, feels more at home and comfortable. As a side note, girls: we get to wear our leggings, scarves and cute sweaters and no one can shame us for it. No, I didn't wear this same sweater yesterday… it was a different color. Duh.

3. The smells and tastes.

THE highlight of October is having an excuse to burn pumpkin flavored candles and indulging in pumpkin flavored coffees and lattes. The Starbucks addict that I am, my butt ends up at Starbucks nearly every day of the week (…and weekend). The smells of pumpkin candles in a lowly lit room make the perfect setting for a movie night with the windows open to appreciate the weather at the same time. Double wammy, amirite?

4. Color schemes.

The warm colors that Fall brings really spice things up (feeling punny). Vivid colors such as reds, oranges, yellows and browns really liven up an outdoor or indoor setting. It doesn't take much to turn a room into a comfortable cooler setting, but at the same time have warm colors that make a room feel home-y.

5. Halloween movies!

Who doesn't love Disney's and Nickelodeon's Halloween movies that swing around each year? My inner middle school child comes out right here. I can't go a Halloween without kicking back and watching Halloween movies and sitcoms or cartoons. The Great Pumpkin, Twitches, Halloweentown, Halloweentown 2, Halloweentown High, Hocus Pocus, Scooby Doo, The Nightmare Before Christmas, etc. If you're a true 90's kid, you'll have recognized all of those. If you don't, get with the program.

October is fantastic for so many reasons. There's also Breast Cancer Awareness and carving pumpkins - a true bonding activity. There's candy to stuff your face in, shows on Netflix that becomes appropriate, dressing up in cute costumes, trick-or-treating (for those champions that still do that), etc. If October wasn't your favorite month of the year, it is now.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
