November Intentions

Small goals that make a big impact

Each month I try to write down intentions or little goals for myself to follow and work on accomplishing. This is a chance for me to really think about where I am in my life and what I want to accomplish. I limit the list to around 10 things so it is attainable and not overwhelming. Everyday I am able to think about some or all of the things on my list and make progress towards achieving them. I love doing this because our lives are constantly changing and I get to re-evaluate my goals each month, see what I have accomplished from the month prior, and look forward to the future. I feel that this betters my attitude and perspective which makes me a more motivated and positive person overall. Resolutions shouldn't be limited to the beginning of the New Year, but in making them each month, you get into a routine of regularly working towards goals.

November intentions are especially important to me because it is the official start of the holiday season and I think it's very important to identify the things you have in life, what you are thankful for, and where your priorities are compared to last month or even last year.

Here is my simple list of November intentions that anyone can implement into their lives and adapt to their life or personal goals.

1. Drink more water

This is a default intention I set for myself every month because it is something I constantly remind myself and in doing this, I feel better.

2. Be patient with yourself

Take your time, take a breath, step back from a difficult task

3. Do one thing each day dedicated to yourself

Face mask, favorite book, a chill Netflix night, go out for your favorite food or drink

4. Start each day with a positive attitude

5. Spread kindness

6. Be thankful for your life and your people everyday

7. Do one thing outside your comfort zone

Test yourself, challenge yourself, see what you're capable of

8. Do a random act of kindness once a week

All of these things are applicable to your life in some way, shape, or form. Try it out and see how you like it, you just might surprise yourself :)

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
