Christmas is a time of year when all your family is together and happy. Well this year is very different for me because I do not get to be at home with my family this Christmas. This will be my first Christmas away from my family and I miss them so much. Christmas with my family is always such a fun and traditional time. It is the one time of year that you can count on everyone showing up and being ready to celebrate. Having to watch through a phone screen is just not going to be the same.

This holiday is so special to my family not only because of all the gift giving but just the fact of having everyone in the same house. We are a close family and get together a lot but nothing is as special as Christmas. There is just such a magic in the air, all of the little kids are so excited for Santa and that just makes the atmosphere even better. My family also has an epic paper ball fight after we open presents and that might be the only thing I am excited to miss.....well maybe not. It is a little terrifying having balls of wrapping paper wizzing by your face, but so much fun none the less.

I know this Christmas will still be amazing and fun spending it with my boyfriend's family, but I will still miss being at home with my crazy family. I love them so much. They may say they are going to kick me off the island for missing the most special holiday in the books but I know they love me more than anything. The 21st century has at least made it easy to be able to talk to and see them even being miles apart. Thank you to apple for facetime so that I can still see my family on Christmas.

Not being home for Christmas was hard, but it was still such an amazing day. I love my family so much and I know they still had a great paper ball fight without me!
