I get it, Halloween is fun. It's probably the only day of the year when it is not only acceptable but expected, to dress up in a ridiculous costume and eat candy all night long. I really don't have anything personal against Halloween, I've just never been the biggest fan of it.

BUT that doesn't mean I don't still love fall and October and all of the wonderful things it has to offer. I've listed here some things that you can do this October that don't involve any spooks or scares!

Dress up in your coziest fall clothes.

Even though it's probably still 85 degrees outside.

Just go ahead and start listening to Christmas music now.

Tbh I don't normally support premature Christmas jams, but it's not like there's any good Halloween music out there.

Go to the movies... and not watch a scary movie.

Yes, they do in fact exist.

Visit a pumpkin patch.

At the very least, get a pic for the Insta.

Drink a pumpkin spice latte.

Like literally just sit in a coffee shop and appreciate the fact that fall is finally here.

Extra points if you're by a window and can watch the leaves fall while listening to folk music.

Bake something yummy.

Burn one of your Bath and Body Works candles while you're at it for extra yummy smells!

Watch playoff baseball.

Watch Halloweentown (AKA the only Halloween movie you'll ever get me to watch).

Smell every fall-scented candle at Bath and Body Works.

Instagram

Find a fair or fall festival near you.

Think corn dogs and ferris wheels. The more fried food, the better!

Use the money you aren't spending on Halloween costumes to buy more pumpkins.

Have a (non-scary) movie marathon at home!

Harry Potter, Back to the Future, Twilight, the possibilities are endless! Grab your coziest blankets and your best friends and get ready for a fall day well spent.

Go to a corn maze.

A not scary one, of course.

Stock up on Halloween candy for yourself.

 Go to a Farmer's market.

Instagram

This is a great thing to do more often than just October, but it's a proven fact that everything is just more exciting when pumpkins are involved.

 Watch Friday Night Lights.

The show, the movie, or an actual Friday night football game. Any and all are acceptable.

Go thrift shopping to add to your fall sweater collection.

Or just raid your grandpa's closet.

Make one of those cute autumn wreaths for your front door.

Instagram

Or another fun craft to show just how much you love fall.

Skip out on the Halloween parties and drink more pumpkin spice lattes instead.

Enjoy October for what it is - truly one of the best times of the year.

If you are one of those people who considers Halloween a part of "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year," I hope you don't take this article personally. Maybe you never realized how truly versatile this time of year is!

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
