'Twas the night before the ice storm

And all through the town,

Everyone and their brother

Is grocery store-bound.

Buying bread and some water

To drink and to eat.

They'll survive and be merry;

Though they might not have heat.

The store is so crowded.

The shelves become bare.

But they prepare for the worst as

An ice storm soon will be there.

As bad as 2007?

Ten years to the day.

Of course? It's the Midwest.

It must happen this way.

The schools are all closed

Even SPS--no way!

It was a good call;

The skies become grey.

The rain starts freezing

The trees are icy and cold.

But sooner, rather than later,

The ice becomes old.

The power lines are strung

And covered in ice, too.

Everyone hangs out and waits.

There's not much to do.

The power goes out.

They are stuck in the dark.

They're with family and friends

But can't walk to the park.

They play games and cards

But no TV and all that.

Isn't it kind of nice,

To just sit around and chat?

They grow closer to their families

Huddling together without power.

They clean out the fridge--

Or the milk will go sour.

So good luck this winter,

Don't be frozen with fright.

Happy ice storm to all

And to all a good night.

And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:

Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

19960
bruce springsteen album cover born in the usa

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

3353
Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.
