I'm Never Seeing A Scary Movie Again

This past week my boyfriend somehow convinced me to go see 'Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark.' Now I don't know about you, but I absolutely hate scary movies. I don't watch them, I basically do my best to stay away from them at all costs. I still am not quite sure how he convinced me to go see a horror movie, but somehow he did. After seeing this movie I told him I am never watching a scary movie with him ever again.

Now I know this is something that a ton of people love; heck my stepdad absolutely loves horror movies. He has to have his own Netflix profile because my mom and I absolutely despise them. I don't get the intrigue of horror movies. You are basically choosing to freak yourself out during and after the movie itself is over. Not only does the movie freak you out, but the fact that you tend to stay on edge for a while after the movie is over. I know for me part of it is I don't like looking over my shoulder and scary movies definitely do that to me.

There are so many reasons as to why I will never watch a horror movie again, but the number one reason is that I don't enjoy them. If I am going to watch a movie, I want it to be something that I will enjoy. Horror movies are something that I do not enjoy. Also, I would like to not give myself a heart attack every few minutes throughout the movie.

For those of you out there who love horror movies, more power to you! It is such a unique and expansive genre that can have so much done in it. It really lends to the imagination of the creator, but I will leave those movies for you. If you need me I will be over here with my Disney and Hallmark movies.

The world of film allows for so much to be done, especially in today's times. However, this does add to how much and how far someone can go when creating a horror movie. Compared to the way horror movies used to be, current horror movies level of graphics and effects have grown immensely. This does, however, make them even more terrifying than they were before. So when it comes to that I will leave it to the horror movie buffs.

The extent of my dislike of scary movies even goes as far as an extreme hatred of haunted houses, fear farms, etc. I am definitely the person who will punch someone in those if I get scared. So that is why I will leave the horror to my boyfriend and stepdad and I'll be over here watching a Hallmark movie with my mom and drinking a glass of wine. If you need me you will find me there, and not anywhere near any horror movie ever again.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
