Although I am not usually one to watch award shows live, after all living it through Twitter is soooo much better, this year I had some friends over to watch Hollywood's biggest night, and I'm so glad I did. After all this year has been a big one for Hollywood. From the formation of movements like #MeToo and #TimesUp to several minority nominations including Jordan Peele, Guillermo Del Toro, and Greta Gerwig, all eyes were on the Dolby Theater March 4th. Here are some of my favorite moments.

5. Jodie Foster presenting Best Actress on crutches.

The Silence of the Lambs star even said her injury was caused by Meryl Streep '"I, Tonya-ing her" a joke playing off of another film up for Oscars, and even took one home for Best Supporting Actress (Allison Janney).

4. Helen Mirren 'Vanna White-ing' the jet ski prize

The 2006 Best Actress winner for her role in The Queen mimicked Vanna White throughout the program as the running gag of the show was the shortest speech would win a jet ski. Mark Bridges who won for his costume designing in Phantom Thread took home the bright green Kawasaki.

3. Jordan Peele's historical win for Best Original Screenplay

I'll be honest, I nearly lost my voice over my excitement for this win. After all this made him the first black screenwriter to take home the Oscar and in a time where more than ever people need to hear diverse stories from diverse writers, this win will hopefully push other minorities to finally getting around to writing their stories.

2. Tiffany Haddish and Maya Rudolph's banter

Where is the petition to have these two host next year's ceremony or at least get them a talk show? From walking out holding their heels and donning slippers to Haddish wearing the same dress that she wore when she hosted SNL, I loved every second they were on stage.

1. Frances McDormand's Speech

With all the fun this year's Oscars had, Frances McDormand's memorable speech reminded us all of what an important year it has been for women in Hollywood. Movements in the name #TimesUp and #MeToo defined this year as the year women are going to start fighting back, all though not every Oscars winner this year solidifies that claim, looking at you Kobe Bryant, at least people are aware of the injustice in this industry and countless others. McDormand's words to remember 'Inclusion Rider' might have left many in the dark and puzzled as to why she would end her strong speech which called for all the female nominees to stand up with her on a flat note, but that is exactly the point.

The fact that so many people (including me) had to Google what an inclusion rider was, illustrates how McDormand knows people in the film industry can take the first step in the diverse direction. An inclusion rider is an agreement that actors and actresses can have (that is part of their contract) for a project that requires that in order for them to work on said project, a certain percentage of the cast and crew has to meet diversity requirements. By reminding the attendees at the ceremony and for informing us at home that such an agreement exists in the world of cinema, McDormand pushes all of us to fight with her to get more diverse hires in the the industry, something that will stay with all of us well after our Google searches.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
