The 2016 Election has been one of the most polarizing elections in recent history. Voter turnout was at an all-time high and people took to social media to express their views and to encourage others to let their voice be heard in the polls. Many used social media to express their reaction to Trump winning the presidency. Musicians are not exempt from having opinions about the election and, like many others, have expressed these opinions on social media, most of them not being happy about the results.

Good morning!
Bahahaha I didn't sleep.
But the sun is up and the world still spins.
Let's go. pic.twitter.com/DOFPZqWIcE

The performer and mastermind behind "In The Heights" and "Hamilton" tweeted several times throughout the night as results came in. He shared that a Trump presidency was not what he wanted, but he offered hope to those who felt the same. He told followers to feel whatever they needed to feel and then push towards making sure love continues to thrive in a situation where many feel an absence of love. His other tweets say that there is much work to be done to ensure freedom and equality shine through.
Kelly Clarkson
I have never been more nervous/scared in my life. #ElectionNight
— Kelly Clarkson (@kelly_clarkson) November 9, 2016
Kelly Clarkson anxiously watched the coverage as the results came in, revealing that Trump was on a clear path to victory. This made her, and so many others around the country, very nervous and scared about what would happen if Trump became President, especially since Trump's campaign has been all about belittling women. This tweet got Clarkson's opinion across without going into too much detail. She received some backlash for this post and others about the election results, but she stood strong in her beliefs.
Corbin Bleu
He's predicted to win & all who are rallied there for him shouting "lock her up"! That's how they want to take a victory? So inhuman & small
— Corbin Bleu (@corbinbleu) November 9, 2016
Actor and musician Corbin Bleu tweeted a couple times as the results were coming in, being proud of New York for giving their votes to Clinton. His tweets pointed to him not supporting Trump. He watched the coverage of the announcement when Trump supporters were yelling "Lock her up." He called these people out, saying that they are being sore winners. To Bleu and many others, this kind of thing is "inhuman and small." He later tweeted to Trump, urging him to act with respect for all citizens, unlike what occurred on the campaign trail.

Her two tweets of support for Clinton before the results came out showed her confidence and hope for the future. Gonzalez is one of the few that used #imwithher in her tweets. Even after Trump's presidency was announced, her tweets remained hopeful for eradicating hate and spreading love.
Mandy Moore
I am just absolutely beside myself right now. I can't believe the way this thing has turned. Trying to remain hopeful but geeez louise.
— Mandy Moore (@TheMandyMoore) November 9, 2016
Singer/songwriter Mandy Moore expressed her disbelief on Twitter as the election results were coming in. There were moments that the election seemed hopeful, completely winnable even, for Clinton, but another result would come in, adding to Trump's tally. Many people tried to remain hopeful, but at one point it became apparent that Trump was going to win and it would be next to impossible to Clinton to make a comeback.
