Films have the capacity to influence and reach a mass audience. Everyone has a favorite movie. That movie that can be watched over and over again and never gets boring or old. Movies are an influential source to many of us. Sometimes we don’t even realize how influential they actually are. If you’re ever sad, you can watch a movie to cheer you up. The idea that a film can have such an enormous impact on people can be difficult, however, this same impact can also be a great tool when used properly and for the right reasons. Here are some of my favorite movie quotes we should all take in to consideration.

  1. Pulp Fiction

“That’s when you know you’ve found somebody special. When you can just shut the fuck up for a minute and comfortably enjoy the silence.” -Mia Wallace

Does this need any more explanation?

2. Swingers

"You're so money and you don't even know it." -Trent

Urban Dictionary translation: You're so awesome; You're so fantastic; You're so cool; You're so likable

3. Shrek

"After a while, you learn to ignore the names people call you and just trust who you are." – Shrek

Don’t ever let anyone bully you into believing you are who they think you are.

4. Stand by Me

"I am acting my age. I’m in the prime of my youth and I’ll only be young once." -Teddy

Enjoy being immature while you can.

5. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." – Ferris

Life’s too short to miss out anything, try to take it slowly.

6. Dazed and Confused

“You gotta keep on livin’… L-I-V-I-N.” — Wooderson

This is pretty self explanatory.

7. Boyz N the Hood

"Why is it every time you talk about a female you gotta say bitch, ho, or hootchie?" -Shalika

Shalika standing up for all of us women and the derogatory terms we are always called, who is also portraying a strong female character.

8. Good Will Hunting

"Real loss is only possible when you love something more than you love yourself." -Sean

Heartbreak is inevitable.

9. WE BOUGHT A ZOO

"You know, sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage. Just, literally, 20 seconds of just, embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it." -Benjamin Mee

Believe in yourself!

10. Clueless

“I’m not a prude, I’m just highly selective.” -Cher

This is for all the girls, don’t let anyone pressure you into doing something you don’t want to do or lower your standards to please other.

11. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

"It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends." - Albus Dumbledore

We have all suffered from a bad friendship and sometimes it’s hard to cut ties with negative people who you call a friend.

12. The Breakfast Club

"You ought to spend a little more time trying to make something of yourself and a little less time trying to impress people." -Vernon

I'm pretty sure we can all relate to this. We sometimes forget that self-love and our own happiness are important.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
