This coming Sunday will be the day we have all been anticipating since last year. The day that the virgin Mary brought the PERFECT baby into the world. The day that brings joy to so many people and the day that is bringing sadness to families close to me because of the loss of a loved one.
Christmas is here.
Everyone has been running from store to store to buy that “perfect” gift for that special someone or to please a family member. No package wrapped in wrapping paper, a bag tied with a bow, or even a simple card will ever amount to the gift that was wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. Jesus is THE perfect gift. I can’t even begin to imagine how that night was. A scared Mary, a fearful Joseph, along with a donkey, who probably didn’t know what was happening. It was a night that wise men followed the brightest star to take gifts to their Savior. The Savior that would day grow up and walk on water, heal the blind, feed the 5,000 and one day die so we could have eternal life. That is so amazing to me.
Christmas is a day where we get to celebrate all of that. We get to celebrate the fact that on that cold night in Bethlehem, the King was born. The King of Kings and the Prince of Peace. Now that is what you call the perfect birth. The birth that only happened by the goodness of God and the birth that will be celebrated for many more Christmases to come.
So, this Christmas when you’re gathered at church on Christmas Eve, by the table with family, or opening gifts on Christmas Day, please take time to remember that night in Bethlehem that changed everything. Celebrate the Savior this Christmas!
