5 Reasons You Should Start Your Day With A Little Coffee & Lots Of Jesus

Some people start their days with an episode of Netflix, a nice big breakfast, or just catching up on social media. How do I start my day? Well, since I've been in college, I have tried to start my days with my Bible and a cup of coffee. I truly believe that starting your morning with Jesus and enjoying a nice cup of coffee can change your mood towards your entire day.

Here are 5 more reasons you should do just that:

1. Stress relief

Something happens to you when you open up your Bible. In the morning when I sit and open up my Bible and turn on my worship music, it doesn't matter what is going on in my life, all of my stress disappears. I open the word and I feel a peace come over me and I know that for those few short minutes that I spend with the Lord, I don't have a care in the world.

2. Better outlook on the day

When I start my days with my warm cup of coffee and my Jesus time I am more optimistic about the day that is ahead of me. I think about what is weighing on my heart and mind and I leave it at the cross in the morning. I know that no matter what problems or stress that I am facing, they are so small when I think about how big his love is for me.

3. Happiness

During my quiet time, I will come across something in the Bible and it just makes me smile. Reading about the love that God has for us just makes you feel comforted and happy. I think about all of the crazy and hectic things going on in my life and I think about my failures and I can't help but smile. I know that no matter how many times I fail, he is there to pick me up and he still loves me.

4. Guidance

God is funny in the way that he places certain things in our lives. When I have my time with him in the mornings, I always read a verse that is so relatable to situations in my life. I even find that when I read those verses in the morning I can relate them to certain things throughout the day.

5. Strength

Starting your day off by being in the word gives you strength to know that you can face whatever the day brings. You know that no matter what you are up against you will stand tall and overcome it because HE is on your side and gives you the strength to do so.

I encourage you to dive into the word every morning. Sit down with a cup of coffee and sit in the presence of the Lord. Your days will be brighter, happier, and you will feel stronger and better because you did so.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
