How To Create A Moment

You only have control over three things in your life – the thoughts you think, the images you visualize, and the actions you take.” - Jack Canfield

How many times do we wait for the next best thing? Or hyping something up in our heads before it even happens? Or following our own built in morals to lead us to where we "should" go. Instead of taking every second in for what it is.

Detaching from our grown thoughts about ourselves is tough. But replacing it with the current moment makes things new and exciting. It's almost like you don't have a past to follow your own patterns.

You don't have to do what you once did. From an outside standpoint looking in, I realize something greater. When you are caught between the decision to fall back into what feels comfortable and what feels dissociating, choose the one you'd actually be proud of.

By challenging yourself to make such a slight decision at the right time, you begin to disconnect from your habitual ways.

It's brilliant. And it doesn't take much. You start from scratch by changing one piece of the picture to eventually sculpting your own picture. You create it.

We forget this so often. We forget we have the answers. We allow external circumstances to tell us where to go next.

It's crazy beautiful when you're the one taking a stance and making it what you want it to be. The rewards that pop up in the making will show you exactly why you should continue doing it.

It's like dressing yourself. Do you pick out what you're wearing for the day ahead, or does someone else tell you what to wear?

If you get to choose your outfit, you're going to wear something that enhances and describes your own nature. You're going to wear something that makes you feel more of yourself.

No matter who you are, you have a style.

Same with the way we think, what's your style? Is it screaming who you are, or is it a mere reflection of what everyone else is doing?

Just as you choose your outfit, you get to choose how you think and what you want to think about. You're head coordinator!

We don't have a certain machine that can delete our past mistakes, or erase our old patterns. But we do get the chance to make new of them. We get to start over every single day.

Do not conform. Let yourself breathe in every moment while rolling over to the next. What would you be doing instead? Dwelling on what you can't change, how you could've made it better, where you went wrong, etc.

That doesn't exist anymore. It's over. Open your eyes right now, wherever you are, and realize that this is exactly where you are now. Connections and people don't exist in the conversations within yourself in your head.

Smelling the flowers sounds way more fun than asking yourself why the flowers smell.

Don't disrupt the flow of what the universe is doing for you.

You have to be a real piranha in this world. It's all about leadership. Get connected with yourself and it'll be twice as hard for someone else to mess with you without you biting back.

You have to present yourself in such a way that even you respects you more.

So breathe and keep flowing. Because everything else is completely irrelevant besides what you do for you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
