Wake Up, America! Mollie Tibbetts Would Still Be Alive Today If We Had Stricter Immigration Policies

How many more "Mollie Tibbetts" will it take before America realizes the weight of illegal immigration?

How long will America be blinded to the realities of illegal immigration? What tragedy has to occur in order for voting citizens to wake up and inflict change. Crime is not large enough. Billions of dollars in costs passed onto taxpayers isn't enough. Even death itself is not a large enough tragedy. Wake up, America!

As of 2014, there were an estimated 12.1 million undocumented immigrants in America — including, allegedly, Cristhian Rivera. Rivera was arrested on August 21, 2018, as the lead suspect in the murder of Mollie Tibbetts. Tibbetts went missing on July 18 while she was out jogging. For over a month, 40 investigators who were assigned to this case looked diligently for clues and information on where Mollie Tibbetts might be.

After making National headlines for several weeks, this heartbreaking case is finally drawing to a close. What are believed to be Mollie's remains were found in a cornfield 12 miles from where she was last seen. The autopsy will take up to six weeks to identify, but it is a strong lead. According to the original arrest documents, Rivera revealed he came in contact with Tibbetts and directed police to the cornfield where he put her body.

Mollie Tibbetts has been described as being a leader and a well-liked and loved person. She is admired by her family, friends and the community. How close is too close to home? Too close to comfort? Does your heart break for this family as it breaks for your own? We have addressed the problem, identified the dangers, and mapped a solution.

Why then as Americans do we still vote against or protest leaders who are dedicated to correcting the situation?

This is not an isolated issue. It is not just confined to the border states. Innocent people all over the country, even in Iowa, are paying the price for the ignorance and apathy of their fellow citizens. It's time to put illegal immigration at the top of our priority to list to stop another tragedy like this from happening.

Dear Los Angeles...With Love,

After packing two oversized suitcases and two carryons with all the boho chic clothes I thought I needed to travel across the country for my dream internship, I quickly realized that although I may look like I belong out in the entertainment capital of the world there was a lot more to it than Free People dresses and fanny packs.

Dear Los Angeles...With Love,
September: Los Angeles

Ever since I was younger I dreamed of moving out to California. There was something so amusing about being in the hub of it all that bursts with passion and artistry wherever you look. After a trip to LA when I was a sophomore in high school for dance, I fell even more in love with this utopia of a city and from that moment on, Los Angeles was that light at the end of the tunnel.
