The last few weeks in India, I've seen the Himalayas and driven an ATV on a sand dune, among other things. As fun and unique as these experiences were, I've gotten a little homesick. It was easier than I'd like to admit to come up with ten things I miss about America.
1. Wifi and data everywhere
Unless you're blessed enough to have unlimited data roaming, your Snapchat streaks are in constant danger.
2. WESTERN TOILETS
Squatting over a hole that you paid 10 rupees for is quite the experience.
3. Clean roads
I think I see some road in the midst of that dust.
4. Being able to wear basically whatever you want with minimal judgement
A tank top with shorts is not received well, and the stares from men and women alike make you want to wear long sleeves and jeans even in 90-degree weather.
5. Taking AC cars for granted
It's not as common as you'd like to believe. Driving with the windows down is about life or death, not feeling badass.
6. Diversity
The term "brown town" takes on a whole new meaning. You miss seeing people of all races around you.
7. Having normal hair
Humid is an understatement!
8. Not having flies follow you like the paparazzi
Actually, the flies are more dedicated.
9. Sane drivers
It's like there are no traffic laws in the motherland.
10. Mangoes
Just kidding, this is one thing you'll dearly miss about India. They don't taste as delicious in the US as they do in India.
Definitely excited to head home soon, but the easy access to Indian sweets and mangoes will truly be missed.
