7 Things All "Cusp-Babies" Remember

You probably read the title and thought to yourself, "what exactly do you mean by 'cusp baby'?". What I mean is someone that was born between 1996 and 2001 that would not necessarily be considered a millennial, but also not really be considered a Generation Z baby either. They had the best of both worlds, we saw the internet grow in popularity and the transition from MySpace to Facebook. We saw the birth of YouTube and the growth and evolution of meme culture. So this article is for all of you, those who can relate to millennial type things and Gen Z type things alike, here are seven things that you probably remember from your childhoods.

1. HEELY'S!!!

If you had a pair of these bad boys in elementary school, you were automatically the coolest person in school and would wheel down the hallway all the time after recess with them. Heely's were one of the biggest staples of the early-to-mid 2000's that had everyone wanting a pair of them every time they saw the commercials on television.

2. Disney Channel's Transition from "Lizzie McGuire" to "Hannah Montana"

When you saw Disney Channel's transition into new programming, you were automatically obsessed. Any millennial/gen-z cusp baby will remember watching "Lizzie McGuire" when they were younger and watching "Hannah Montana" when they were a little bit older. As someone who was a stan of both of these Disney Channel icons, this is one I will always remember.

3. The ORIGINAL "Graphic Design Is My Passion"

If you were in middle school (or even late elementary school or early high school) from the mid-2000's to the early 2010's, chances are you tried to edit any photo you can using an application called Picnik; even having a Facebook album dedicated to all your creations. You also probably remember the anguish you felt back in 2012 when it was announced that Picnik was shutting down.

4. Teen Heartthrobs Such as Justin Bieber Always Stole Your Heart

Before he matured into what he became today, Justin Bieber was the teen heartthrob that every girl in the early 2010s was obsessed over (and drove everyone else completely insane). You remember hearing his pre-pubescent voice and either thinking it was super adorable or that he just sounded like a baby and didn't get it. This was also the peak of jokes about Beiber either being gay or will never hit puberty.

5. You Remember Watching the Premiere of the First "High School Musical"

One thing that hits me super hard is getting together with friends for a sleepover party to watch the premiere of the newest Disney Channel Original Movie. "High School Musical" was on of the first that I remember peaking in popularity and everyone talking about, so the premiere was one of the most anticipated events of our childhood.

6. The Only Memories You Have of Watching Any Popular 80's/90's Sitcoms Such as "Full House" Was Through Reruns on Nick at Nite

You may have not been born when some of the most popular family sitcoms first aired, but you still got exposure to them through Nickelodeon's nighttime block known as Nick at Nite. Some of my favorite memories from childhood was getting to watch reruns of "Full House" and "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" on a Saturday night once Nickelodeon signed off and it was time for Nick at Nite.

7. "Degrassi: The Next Generation". That is All.

Running all throughout the 2000's and early 2010's, "Degrassi: The Next Generation" was probably one of the first teen-oriented shows you watched once you hit puberty. "Degrassi" tackled many topics that teens will go through or experience at one point, such as teen pregnancy, drug abuse, body image, homosexuality, mental health, suicide, and so much more. Plus, it was your first exposure to Drake before he was Drake.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
