Mike Holston – better known as his social media persona 'The Real Tarzan' – was recently arrested for his involvement in a 'savage' fight with another Instagram personality.

A little over a month ago (August 10, 2019), Holston had been faced with 3 charges: felony burglary, assault and battery, felony battery and misdemeanor battery charges; sentenced by a Miami-Dade County judge to be placed in jail without bond on the basis of his attorney's claim that there'd been confusion about the burglary charges and that Holston had been living on the property where the incident had taken place for the past seven months.

Early news media headlines on the story had seemed to take a turn against The Real Tarzan, distorting the story to make the Internet sensation out to look like a dangerous individual. Aside from implications about the nature of Holston's actions, using rhetoric to exaggerate stories that include violence is a common tactic used by the media to attract attention to their publications.

These police reports were released by the press prematurely, containing a lack of, as well as misinformed, evidence against Holston – leading popular media (such as WPLG Local 10 News) to produce attractive article captions and headlines that read things like "'Real Tarzan' won't be getting out of jail anytime soon" only a day after his court appearance.

Given the wildlife preservation collaboration history of Holston and Leon, this event had clearly resulted from a social media squabble and, possibly, their opposing viewpoints on how to preserve wildlife and deal with invasive animal species.

The cops who showed up to the scene say the two had gotten into an argument that turned physical where Holston had gotten the better of Leon. When Leon tried to escape into his car to call the police, police say, The Real Tarzan lunged into Leon's vehicle to continue the beating – punching a friend of Leon's who'd tried to intervene.

Holston's attorney – in his plea for self-defense – acknowledged that Python Hunter had made threats to Holston over social media as well as the fact that there were 2 'victims' and only one 'assaulter.' Despite this, along with Holston's mother's claim that "the two that had attacked her son came with weapons," Holston was still denied bond.

Holston spent seven days behind bars and is now on house arrest under the condition that he wear an ankle monitor and stay away from the two reported victims of assault; Zelaya and Leon.

Aside from media articles and news reports, Mike Holston had gracefully taken a stand for himself on YouTube, Instagram, and other media to share his perspective on the situation.

Holston's attorney acknowledged that Holston and Leon met at the ZWF (Zoological Wildlife Foundation) where Holston had been living. In spite of the police reports that say the incident had taken place outside of Tarzana – where Holston resides – Holston himself claims on social media that "this entire situation happened in my backyard…not the front yard…not the driveway…not the mailbox…but in the middle of a 7-acre property.."

Mike Holston has proven, over countless demonstrations and contributions, to be dedicated to the wildlife community and his search to provide species of animals – especially those that face endangerment.

Holston's overall goal is to become "the next Steve Irwin." He emphasizes the detrimental impact that human industrialization (such as Palm Oil Production) has on the environments that rare and endangered species live in. To prevent the continuing of the misinformed killing of gentle creatures by humans, Holston reaches out to the youth to spread awareness by going school to school with exotic animals and teaching children about them. Altogether, from his millions of followers on social media platforms, The Real Tarzan has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars – over 7 figures – for wildlife preservation.
