As a college freshman, it’s not likely that you’ll have access to a normal kitchen, and therefore, an oven and/or stove, which makes cooking either difficult or impossible. What you probably do have, however, is a microwave… and honestly, cup noodles can only be eaten so many times in a row (I have not yet reached that point, but I still want some food variety in my life).

So if you have a mug and a microwave, be prepared for some new recipes that you can try out in your dorm! And if you do have access to a kitchen but you’re feeling lazy, then feel free to try these out as well.

So without further ado, here are some of my favorite recipes that I’ve gathered that you can make in your microwave!

1. Pizza

Pizza in a mug? Yes. You heard it right. You don’t need access to an oven in order to make pizza! Although you will definitely need to pick up a variety of ingredients, it’ll definitely be worth it considering you can remake this recipe over and over again.

You should definitely try out different combinations of pizza toppings to figure out which ones you like!

You can find the recipe and video here.

2. Egg Muffin

If you’re a big breakfast person (Like me! I could eat omelets EVERY DAY), you should definitely try out this recipe!

You can find the recipe and video here.

3. Mac & Cheese

Of course, you can just buy microwavable packages of mac and cheese, but those are usually unhealthy and don’t give you that big of a portion for the price you pay. If you’re willing to put down some money to buy the ingredients, it’ll be SO much cheaper in the long run, and much healthier!

You can find the recipe and video here.

4. Thai Green Curry

If you don’t like Thai food… I have nothing to say to you. Thai food is one of my FAVORITE types of food and I don’t think I could ever grow tired of it. What’s even better is homemade Thai food from my best friend’s mom (shout-out to Mrs. Cook)!

Anyway, if you want to make some Thai food in your microwave, you can find the recipe here.

5. Brownie

Of course, we can’t finish a list of food without ending it with a dessert recipe! I’ve seen a lot of brownies in a mug recipes, and for me, unless I’m blatantly cursed with bad cooking/baking, I’ve NEVER had a good one. However, if there’s one person I trust, it’s Gemma (who this recipe comes from).

So if you’re ready to make it, you can find the recipe here.

These recipes are from Gemma from Bigger Bolder Baking! She’s a professionally trained chef and baker from Ireland and her recipes are amazing! I first discovered her YouTube channel a few years ago and I’ve been obsessed ever since.

For a full list of her mug recipes, click here! I’ve simply compiled some of my favorite for you guys :)

Have fun and happy eating! And don't burn your building down!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
