My favorite adaptation of A Christmas Carol is Mickey's Christmas Carol. Disney made this during 1983. It was on the ABC channel when I was a baby. This cartoon featurette was an unforgettable classic. My family recorded it on a video cassette for safe-keeping. My sisters could watch it all over again whenever we wanted to. When I watched it when I was a baby, I remembered seeing Goofy as a ghost. At that time, I was not aware of what I was watching until later on. When one of my sisters first mentioned Mickey's Christmas Carol later on, I did not know what it was until I remembered Goofy as a ghost.
In Mickey's Christmas Carol, the characters play a character from A Christmas Carol. Scrooge McDuck plays as Ebenezer Scrooge. After all, Ebenezer and Scrooge both have Scrooge in their name and are old men. Donald Duck plays as Fred. Mickey Mouse plays Bob Cratchit. Goofy plays as Jacob Marley. Jiminy Cricket plays as the Ghost of Christmas Past. Mr. Toad plays as Fezziwig. Daisy Duck plays as Isabelle. Willie the Giant plays as the Ghost of Christmas Present. Mortie Mouse plays as Tiny Tim. Minnie Mouse plays as Mrs. Cratchit. Pete plays as the Ghost of Christmas Future. The Weasels play as the gravediggers.
The story in the cartoon is the same as the story in A Christmas Carol. The cartoon featurette is very sentimental, sad, and touching. It gives me a good portrayal and understanding of Charles Dicken's classic masterpiece. If you have never seen this cartoon featurette before, then you should give it a try whenever you can. It is only twenty-six minutes long so it is not that long. Please trust me on this one piece of advice: It will be worth the twenty-six minutes.
