You see them everywhere — memes with two pictures: one with a girl on the left who has no makeup on and the same girl on the right who has makeup on. It never fails that the caption of that meme is something along the lines of, "This is why men have trust issues."
But... why?
If men aren't intelligent enough to realize the function of makeup and also realize that a girl with makeup will (usually) look completely different without makeup, then they're the only ones to blame for their "trust issues" nonsense.
Since men believe that makeup alters the appearance of a woman, do they also react this way when a woman changes her clothes? Is it "false advertising" when we "dress up" and then end up dressing down in sweatpants?
(By the way, women are not products, so there's no false advertising going on.)
If you expect us to have a natural smokey eye with thick, long, and black lashes, I have some news for you. Girls do not wear makeup for you (In the words of TooTurntTina, "I don't wake up in the morning and think, 'I'm gonna paint my eyelids blue because Josh likes blue').
We wear makeup because we want to.
Some wear makeup to cover imperfections. Others may wear it because they want to show off the art that is makeup.
Women do not wear makeup to deceive nor impress men.
Women are often damned if they do and damned if they don't when it comes to makeup. If they do wear it, men think they're hiding something and develop "trust issues" over makeup. If they don't wear it, then men call them ugly and probably suggest putting makeup on.
If you're deceived by thinking that girls have naturally rosy cheeks and perfectly contoured skin, so be it, but go ahead and take her swimming on the first date. I hate to tell you, though, girls don't play around with waterproof makeup and setting spray. That makeup isn't going anywhere.
