Everyone has their reasons for why Christmas is the best time of the year. The spirit and joy that is in the air from the beginning of November through December 25th is unlike any other time of the year, in other words, it's magical.
Now, I know that it has not been the same since the day your parents told you the sad secret of no Santa Claus, but that Christmas spirit never diminishes from within you. It's still there and it continues to grow all the way up until your 92.
The tale of Santa Claus is almost like a gift that keeps on giving.
When you were a kid, your parents were the ones who made Christmas that special time of year for you. When you think about Christmas, everything you remember came from your parents. The memories of making cookies the night before and setting them out for Santa, that was your parent's idea. All the decorations and putting up the Christmas tree, also your parents. You can probably even remember the smell of your house during that time.
Before I could drive, every time I got into the car, Christmas music would be playing, and that is exactly why I make sure to leave the Christmas radio on when I get out of my car. Being home for Christmas is one of the greatest feelings in the world, but from your parent's traditions, you can make anywhere feel like home.
Today, I am twenty years old and still get giddy about Christmas time as if I were nine years old again.
Being away from home for school sucks during this time of year, but now I get to put my own spin onto decorating for Christmas. Every time I walk into a Hobby Lobby or a Micheal's it's like I'm walking into a candy store. I want everything. If I could, I would make my house look like the North Pole. Christmas movies are on constant repeat and every Christmas scented candle I see, I buy. Our house may not look exactly like the North Pole, but it definitely smells like it.
When I said that the tale of Santa Claus is like the gift that keeps on giving, what I meant by that was now that we know there isn't a Santa Claus, we can make sure that our future kids have the best Christmas so then they will one day do the same for theirs.
You don't really understand the fun of getting ready for Christmas as a kid because all you're worried about is what presents you are going to find under the tree. As you get older though, you begin to understand the true meaning of Christmas.
Even though their "might" not be a Santa Claus, he was the one who was doing all the work of making sure every person in the world had the best Christmas ever. Now, it is our turn to do the work and make sure that everyone you come in contact with knows how loved they are. That is the true meaning of Christmas.
