Maroon 5 has just come out with their sixth studio album, "Red Pill Blues," on November 3. If you have not listened to it yet, you totally should because it is absolute fire. It will make you want to dance, cry, smile, and sing all at the same time. I highly recommend it.
Their album release got me thinking about how freaking amazing Maroon 5 is.
First of all, they have been making music for a really long time. Adam Levine and a few other people actually formed a band in high school named Kara’s Flowers and they released three albums under that name.Their first album as Maroon 5, "Songs About Jane," came out in the summer of 2002, and they have been steadily releasing albums in the years afterward.
The best part about their music is that there is something for everyone. They have songs like "She Will Be Loved" and "Beautiful Goodbye" that will make you feel some pretty deep feels, and they have songs like "Makes Me Wonder" and "What Lovers DO" that just make you want to party and have a good time. I can guarantee that there is a Maroon 5 song for everyone out there.
You may be thinking “Cool, they have been making music for a long time, so what?” I’ll tell you what. They are one of the most successful bands of this generation. I may be a little biased with that statement, but they have been incredibly successful over the years.
Collectively, they have received three Grammy’s, three American Music Awards, and four Billboard Music Awards. Not to mention they have had multiple number one Billboard hits and the fact that their first five studio albums have gone platinum in the U.S.
Not only are they great at making incredibly catchy music that they have been able to mold and shape as the band has grown and times have changed, but they are also incredible when performing live. I was lucky enough to get tickets to see them in Portland, Oregon for my birthday last year, and I still think about that concert almost every day.
Since they have been around so long, they were able to play more of a “greatest hits” type of set at their show, so I got to hear a lot of their most popular songs as well as a few from the album that they were touring for, "V."
As performers, they are just incredibly captivating. They had super lights and other effects going on during their songs, and the vocals in-person sounded just like they do on their albums, which is pretty awesome. I have found from experience that artists usually don’t sound the same in person.
Probably the most amazing thing about the show that I went to was that they actually released "Don’t Wanna Know" that exact day, and they performed it for the first time acoustically and I thought that I died and went to heaven. Now, every time I listen to that song I am transported back to their concert and it just puts a smile on my face.
All in all, Maroon 5 is incredible and I just want everyone in the whole world to think so too. I hope this article convinced you even a little bit, because if it didn’t you are seriously missing out.
