The college years are without a doubt some of the best years. It is the beginning of a fledgling independence and fresh start in a new place. While college is inarguably some of the most exciting years, it can also be some of the most stressful. Decisions made can affect decisions that will be made even years down the road. When thinking about it, it can be easy to become overwhelmed with stress and anxiety. Some simple choices can help keep the worries at bay.

1. Do something you love.

Take some time out of your hectic life to invest in some of your hobbies. For instance, I might take a walk/hike or write to ease some of my stress. Dancing, jogging, swimming, or even just taking a relaxing drive around town can help you take some time away from the things that are bothering you and help make things more manageable.

2. Talk to someone you trust.

Sometimes as humans, we just need to be heard. We want to feel like what we say matters and what is going on in our lives is important. It is okay to talk to friends or family that you are close to, just also know not to do so to the extent that they do not want to be around you anymore. Friends love to help, but not even the best of friends want to be with a negative Nancy all the time.

3. Step away.

When things begin to become overwhelming, it is okay to take a small break from the things that are bothering you. Go out and take that walk, or go on that jog or drive. Do what you have to do so that you can clear your mind and come back with a fresh start.

Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

6158
Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

You cannot beat the beach. Believe it or not (which many people may not), New England has a long and beautiful coastline. Most of my high school summers were spent sitting on the Wall at Hampton Beach, getting sunburnt and eating Acai bowls from The Secret Spot. The Wall was the place to be both during the day and at night. We begin our days there with a KB's bagel and coffee, and end them with pizza and ice cream. It’s not a New England summer without that 4 p.m. text from someone, “Who wants to meet at the Wall tonight?” Nighttime is for Tripoli’s Pizza, the sound of waves, and wishes on shooting stars. Wednesday nights are especially important, as those are the nights that Hampton Beach sets off the weekly firework display.
