What comes to mind when I say YouTube?

Perhaps, David Dobrik? What about vine compilations? Maybe a beauty-guru here and there?

I am here to advocate for a subset of YouTube, and, more specifically, my favorite YouTuber: small vloggers and Maggie MacDonald. For anyone who is active on the internet, the term "small vlogger" is pretty self-explanatory; however, for those who are not, a small vlogger is a YouTuber who posts content that pertains to everyday life in the form of "video blogs" (hence, vlog) without the massive following of the Shane Dawson's and David Dobrik's of the web. Maggie MacDonald is my favorite YouTuber. From travel vlogs to workout routines, Maggie posts content that is relatable, entertaining, and inspiring. Here are a few reasons why you should hit subscribe.

#1: Realistic Depiction of College

I know a few larger YouTubers go to university full time, but their lives are drastically different from most of their peers. I find that watching some "Daily College" vlogs are not accurate or relatable to myself or the majority of college students. I appreciate Maggie's honesty about balancing her academics, workouts, social life, and YouTube responsibilities. Currently, Maggie is a senior at Bridgewater State University in Boston, Massachusetts, where she studies marketing. Obviously, she is not an average college student; yet, she still is as normal as any YouTuber who is studying at university. She takes final exams, rushes to class, and dedicates time to her homework.

#2: She is Motivating

When I watch YouTube, I usually am procrastinating or avoiding completing my assignments. Moreover, when I am watching YouTube, I am typically watching one of Maggie's vlogs (ask any of my suitemates about this--it is 100% true). Maggie has a positive attitude that is infectious. Her drive to get things done motivates me to hit pause and conquer something on my to-do list.

#3: Healthy. Lifestyle.

I like to think that I lead a healthy life. I workout at least three times per week, I eat a balanced diet, and I make sure to get enough sleep every night. I appreciate when others advocate and educate others on health and fitness. Maggie does this well, and I always find myself inspired to go on a quick run or run to a SoulCycle class after watching one of her vlogs. She also takes time to educate her viewers on cool healthy brands that use clean ingredients. Her expertise does not end at fitness. Maggie often shares some of her favorite self-care tips and ways to unwind in vlogs.

Overall, having a positive influence who inspires you to be the best version of yourself is immensely important.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
