If you're like me, you don't look forward to partying on the weekends at a pub downtown. Instead, I'm fulfilled by opportunities that enable me to grow, explore, and create meaningful relationships. Luckily I've discovered a variety of these opportunities at UCF! Here is a list of my favorite budget-friendly activities to do on and around campus:

1. Lake Claire.

This is the free group exercise class I host every Tuesday night (6pm) at Lake Claire!

Lake Claire is such a beautiful spot that I honestly feel is underappreciated (with the exception of the football tailgate festivities). Lake Claire is the perfect spot for a variety of free activities. Yes, FREE! UCF students and their accompanied guests can rent out kayaks, canoes, and even paddle boards for a relaxing yet adventurous day out on the peaceful lake. You can also gather a group of friends and play a few games of sand volleyball here. Or, if you're looking for a spot to unwind, you could bring a yoga mat at sunset for some great views while you de-stress after a long day of classes. Aside from these activities, you'll also find me there on Tuesday evenings hosting a full-body workout for the community. Not to toot my own horn, but these workouts are definitely a fun way to meet new people, commit to your fitness goals, and enjoy Lake Claire!

2. UCF Recreation and Wellness Center.

I understand how intimidating gyms can be for those starting their fitness journeys. Naturally, cardio machines and yoga mats tend to be a beginner's comfort zone. However, I think the UCF Recreation and Wellness Center (RWC) has something for everyone! The RWC offers an extensive variety of group exercise classes such as yoga, pilates, Zumba, and a killer cycling class. These classes are not only a great opportunity for fitness beginners to explore different styles of exercise, but also an opportunity for committed fitness lovers to challenge themselves or develop new skills.

The RWC also has an assortment of equipment that students can rent out by using their student ID. Out of curiosity, and frankly, just because we could, my roommates and I randomly rented rackets last week and gave badminton a try. (We 10/10 recommend!) You can also use the indoor basketball and racquetball courts, tennis courts, and a leisure pool.

3. Rock climbing wall.

You can find this indoor climbing wall within the UCF Rec & Wellness center. And although I have yet to give this a try, if you know me, you know this has been on my UCF bucket list since I first transferred here a year ago. I'm determined to give this a try before I graduate!

4. Ride Lime bikes around campus.

A workout with great views? I'm in! Especially because after a year of being at UCF I know I still haven't seen the entirety of our beautiful campus.

Did you know your first ride with Lime bikes is only $1? That's a win if you ask me! What I also enjoyed about the Lime bikes was that it documents your ride, depicts the trails you rode, and even shows how much carbon you saved during your ride.

5. Intramural sports.

UCF's Recreation and Wellness Center offers the opportunity to participate in a variety of team, dual, and individual sports. Whether you're looking for a group of people to play volleyball with recreationally or you're interested in competitive play, you can find your appropriate squad at the RWC. Here is a complete list of the intramural sports offered.

6. Adventure trips.

Adventure trips are probably the best way for UCF students to explore and travel for cheap. It's also comforting to know that these trips are led by experienced leaders and transportation or other necessary gear is usually provided--making it a hassle-free experience. This program offers a variety of unique activities from 1-day excursions such as hiking or surfing lessons to week-long adventures like backpacking in California for spring break!

These six activities are my favorite so far, but I can't wait to find other fun, budget-friendly opportunities at UCF! Any recommendations?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
