A Love Letter To My Favorite Sweatpants

Light of my world, love of my life.

Dear Sweatpants,

If you couldn’t tell, we have a great relationship. Since I was young I knew that you’d always be there for me. Looking back at it now, younger me wasn’t wrong. You get along with everyone I love: my friends, family and pets. Your unwavering support and unyielding friendship got me through life. I am forever grateful.

I love you, sweatpants. I really do.

It gives me relief me knowing that at the end of a long day I’ll be able to turn to you, while I’m imperfect and tired, and you’ll be able to comfort me in a way that only you know how to do. The way you can hold me and make me feel safe is like nothing else I know. Your soft embrace is better than any hug from any guy. Trust me.

There is no end to the things you’re good at. We dance so well together on nights where energy levels need to be higher. You allow me the freedom that other pants in the past have not given me. You understand when I drop hummus on you in the middle of the night (jeans would not be as forgiving). When I eat too much hummus, you are still comfortable, whereas the waistband of jeans is a constant reminder of my overeating.

Other pants are constricting and require so much hopping, jumping and leg shaking. You slide on with no fuss, tugging and pain. When other pants limit what I can put into my pockets, you come around and say, “You don’t want to hold your Nalgene water bottle anymore, let me help you out with that." Even with a water bottle in my pocket, there is enough room for my phone to slide in, too.

Many people believe you are unprofessional, not fit for school or the workplace. I say they are wrong. I’ve accomplished more with you on than I have with any other “appropriate” article of clothing. Despite what people say about your appearance, you are totally fit for every situation.

You boost my motivation. Without you, as a reward, I would have never finished some projects or papers. Not to mention that when I fall asleep wearing you, the next morning when I wake up I’m already dressed for the day.

If not for you, I would fall into a madness. Thank you for keeping me together in all my times of panic. You are there to comfort me when I miss home, have friend drama and want to cry. There is no better companion for a movie night. You’ve been there through it all, and you will continue to be there for me.

Much Love,

Your Comfy Companion

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
