Now That 2019 Is Here, We Have So Many New Things To Look Forward To

With the New Year here, it is easy to become lost in the stress of renovating yourself through annual New Year's resolutions, which are often repeated from previous years and never realized.

The new year does serve well as a solid beginning for personal goals that may have been put on the back burner from throughout the year, but it's important to keep in mind that certain goals can be reached throughout the year and that the rush to fulfill them at the beginning can sometimes be unrealistic.

Apart from the excitement of the possibility of self-improvement, it is important to come into the new year with a fresh and open mindset to take advantage of all of the wonderful things the new year brings.

Lots of new music is scheduled to be released in 2019, which, in my opinion, completely sets the mood for the year.

Many have set release dates, though other artists have just declared the album will be released within the year. One of particular interest is Hozier's "Wasteland, Baby!" because he has not released a full album since his self-titled Hozier, released in 2014.

Some other artists that have albums scheduled to release within the year include Lana Del Ray, The 1975 (who just recently released an album, too), and Dua Lipa, among others.

Almost as exciting, Netflix has a tremendous number of new shows debuting in 2019, though with some favorites coming to a close.

The final season of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" is premiering this year, as well as "Orange Is The New Black." Some really exciting Netflix originals that are premiering this year include "The Umbrella Academy," which is based on a popular graphic novel series and about a family of superheroes who essentially have to come together to save the world. The teaser Netflix provided is extremely intriguing, the release date is February 15th.

One that seems particularly interesting is "Russian Doll," which is about a woman who gets caught in a seemingly never-ending cycle of going to the same party and dying every night, though waking up with no injuries. The description of the show is all there is to go on because the teaser trailer just shows an actual Russian doll just exploding, leaving quite a bit up to interpretation.

While there is a bunch of "new" coming in 2019, there are some things that are always exciting coming into the new year.

The start of the year acts as a reset button for me in a lot of ways, especially in an organization. It's exciting to feel like you have your life somewhat together, so I have a bullet journal that I write down literally everything in, though definitely slacked off as last year went on. That made it harder to keep up with what I needed to do, so I plan to start this year with the intention of seeing through my commitment of trying to stick to at least some sort of routine by writing it down in the journal.

Everyone has their own personal goals that make them look forward to a new, refreshing year, which sometimes is all we need to help us get by the everyday stress life throws at us because goals give us something to focus on during times of stress.

This new year I plan to come in with a positive, goal-driven mindset that focuses on the good rather than the stress that may come my way.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
