Seven Things I Need To Be Invented

My life could be made a lot easier.

Seven Things I Need To Be Invented
Gizmoto

The year is 2017 and we are pretty spoiled that just about everything we could want and need is at our fingertips. Want a cup of coffee? Press a button and it will be brewed in seconds. Want to talk to a friend in another country? Give them a quick call on your smartphone. Need the answer to a random question? Google will tell you the answer in less time than it took you to type it. It’s hard to believe that there are still things that do not exist in our more-than-modern world. I present to you a few things that I feel would make my life much easier if they were invented (because my life isn’t easy enough…)

1. “Freezo-Wave”

We all are blessed with the convenience of microwaves in our homes, where we can heat up anything want want in a matter of minutes. Why does the same thing not exist that does the opposite - something that makes things cold in a matter of minutes? Just think about those hot, summer days when you want a nice, cold drink - but there’s no method of making things cold instantaneously! Seriously, this would come in handy more than you would think.

2. Parking spot tracker

An app that allows you to see available parking spots in the city. Living in a city like Charleston where you can almost never find parking, this would come in handy. The app could even keep track of how much time you have left on your meter. I think I really could make some money off of this one.

3. Waiter call buttons

Nothing worse than needing a drink refill and the waiter is nowhere to be found. We have flight attendant call buttons on airplanes - why not have them at restaurants?

4. Dream recorder

Waking up in the morning can be saddened by the fact that your wonderful, realistic dream was just a dream; and one which you will never be able to watch or relive again. Why haven’t we come up with a way to record our dreams? Think about how cool it would be to be able to watch your dreams back like a movie.

5. Pre-set shower temperature

It’s difficult to find that happy medium between too hot and too cold when taking a shower or bath. With just the tiniest shift of the faucet, your shower turns ice cold or scalding hot. There should be a way to click a button and change the temperature to your pre-set water temperature.

6. Text scheduling app

Imagine an app where you could schedule a text to be sent at a certain date and time. No more forgetting to text your friend on his birthday.

7. An undo button in elevators

So when someone pulls a Buddy the Elf on you, you don’t have to wait and visit all of the accidental floors.

While my life has gone on just fine without these fine inventions, I’m really looking forward to the day that all of these things exist. In the meantime, I guess I’ll just have to wait for my food to get cold in the freezer and remember to text my friend on his birthday.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
