You Are My Wonder Woman

First off, I want to start by saying happy birthday and second I would like to say thank you. You have been there for me my whole life. During my struggles and my triumphs, my successes and my failures. You taught me to be independent and to always pick myself back up when I fall. You were also always there to catch me when I did.

You raised me on your own and have always been the independent woman I inspire to be. The love in your heart is more than I ever thought could be possible. The selflessness and humble personality you have is astonishing. You do everything for your kids and you are always there for them. You are the strongest woman I know and I wish to always be as strong as you.

Ever since I was a little girl, you have always been my role model and you always will. I love looking back at old pictures when I was little and love making new ones. You have always been my best friend and the one who I always want to go to for advice. Whenever I am going through something or something great happens, you are always the first person I want to tell. You always know what to say and how to handle things.

There will never be another person that knows me as well as you do. Sometimes, I swear you know me better than I know myself. I am always someone who tries and hides if I am ever hurt but you always see right through it. You get me more than anyone.

We always joke and say you are wonder woman because that’s who you wanted to be when you were little. I believe it is true because you truly are a wonder. You are both a lover and a fighter. You have a way of knowing things and how to conquer the worst. You know how to make someone smile even when they are having a bad day. You teach your kids strength and how to be independent. Compassion is another thing you teach us and how to be humble. You have taught me so much.

I am a college student now and have been enjoying my schooling. I have a family who loves me and will always be there for me. I have you, someone I could always count on and love very much. I wouldn’t be where I am if it weren’t for you. Independence and strength is something I always remember from your teachings. You are my role model and are the one person I want to be proud of me. Your opinion is the world to me and so I will always want to make you proud because you make me proud. I will always be thankful to have you as a mom. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have you as a mother. You are my wonder woman.

I love you.

Happy Birthday Mom.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
