A Thank You Letter To My Best Friend
Tre Weathington

Dear best friend,

I can never thank God enough for placing you in my life. When I say that, I mean it with every ounce of my being and with total conviction. You have always understood and never judged. It is because of you that I never have to worry about someone loving me. It is because of you that I know I always have a home. Thank you for sharing your family with me. Thank you for knowing when I needed you, even if I never said anything. Dear best friend, thank you for not making a big deal about the distance between us. Whether you're on the other side of the room, the state, the country, or the world, I know you've got my back. Thank you for knowing what I mean, even when I don't finish my thoughts. Thank you for loving the good, the bad, and the ugly, and for constantly encouraging me. Thank you for being open with me. The only time I've ever gotten upset with you, you understood. I cannot thank you enough for that. Thank you for sharing my love of the Lord.

Who would've thought that such a small act would lead to something as magical and fantastic as our friendship. Thank you for trusting me and never giving me a reason to not trust you.

Dear best friend, I miss you. When you left, my heart left with you. I have never been moved to tears so easily as when I think of you and the distance between us. But it's just a distance - thank you for always reminding me of that.

Thank you for acting like my older sister. You hold me to a higher standard than I think I hold myself. And I cannot be more grateful. Thank you for needing me. Sometimes all I need to go on is to remember that I'm not alone and you are counting on me, too.

Thank you for acting like my younger sister. You let me be goofy in such a way I never feel apologetic about my goofiness. Thank you for not laughing at me, but with me. Thank you for not punching me every time I say my bad puns.

Thank you for understanding that the love between the two of us is unmatched. I love you more than anything. Thank you for agreeing that the best love is the love between best friends. Words will never be enough to tell you what you truly mean to me. No matter what, I love you. Always. I don't wear the badge of being your best friend lightly. And I know you don't either. It is an honor to be that to you.

Dear best friend,

Thank you for being you. Thank you for everything.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
