Hello my Little Love,

From the second your mom told me she was pregnant, I felt drawn to you. The connection was stronger than anything I've ever felt and I fell in love before I even knew who you were. I remember the day you were born. Your mom texted me and without hesitation I made my way to the hospital and awaited your glorious arrival. Your world debut shook the earth and that day, the sun was shining a little brighter. I really did think that I couldn't love you more if I tried. However, with each passing day I find myself in awe of the love that I have for you.

It's been almost three years since that day and my love has only grown stronger. I've been so lucky to watch you grow and learn. You never cease to surprise me with each little thing you do. Your laugh fills the room with warmth and your smile is contagious. You have a way of captivating everybody around you and making the world a generally happier place to live. You show so much love for your family and the way you take care of your baby dolls truly is pure and sweet. I watch you play with your toys and the way your imagination works is amazing. You have your own little world that I can only hope you've made me apart of.

I wish you could stay little forever. But since you can't, there are a few things I need you to know:

  • Not everybody will be who you want them to be. People will surprise you and be so much better than you ever expected, and people will surprise you and not be the person you thought they were at all. But leave your heart open to everyone. You'll get hurt but all you can do is dust yourself off and try again.
  • Find what you are good at and run with it. Don't try and be the best at everything. No matter what you choose in life, know that I support you and that I will always be there for guidance.
  • Be optimistic. I know that it's hard to stay positive in a world full of hate but the world needs a light like you. Be the light. Be the change.
  • The world is a big big place. Behind each door is a new opportunity. Take each day as it's own and make everyday worth living.
  • Love with all of your heart. Love big. Love strong. Love truly is the only thing that can change the world.

Little love, you teach me more about the world than I ever knew. My promise to you is to always be the person you need me to be. I will stand by your side and walk this life hand in hand without hesitation. You and I are the greatest team I am lucky enough to be apart of. I cannot wait to see where this world takes us but importantly, where you take this world.

With all the love in my heart,

Aunt P.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
