Shonda Rhimes, you have pulled me in, broke my heart, killed some of the best characters and taught me so many lessons through the show "Grey's Anatomy" and my favorite character, Meredith Grey.

1.You don't have to be happy 24/7:

“Nobody is happy all the time. That’s not mental health, that’s crap.”

2. There’s no such thing as moderation:

“There’s something about the possibility of more- more tequila, more love, more anything, more is better.”

3. How to love:

"I'm going to try and trust you because I believe that we can be extraordinary together rather than ordinary apart."

"Derek, I love you, in a really, really big pretend to like your taste in music, let you eat the last piece of cheesecake, hold a radio over my head outside your window, unfortunate way that makes me hate you, love you. So pick me, choose me, love me."

4. We all need a "person":

“At the end of the day, when it comes down to it, all we really want to be is close to somebody.”

5. We deserve the truth:

“The truth is painful. Deep down, nobody wants to hear it, especially when it hits close to home. Sometimes we tell the truth because it is all we want to give. And sometimes we tell the truth because we owe them at least that much.”

6. We can't predict the future:

“When something begins you have no idea who it’s going to end. The house you were going to sell becomes your home. The roommates you were forced to take in become your family. And the one-night stand you were determined to forget becomes the love of our life.”

7. Take it one step at a time:

“Just put one foot in front of the other. Just get through the day.”

8. It will all get better:

“Just when we think we’ve figured things out, the universe throws us a curve-ball. So we have to improvise. We find happiness in unexpected places. We find our way back to the things that matter the most. The universe is funny that way; sometimes it just has a way of making sure we wind up exactly where we belong.”

9. It's OK to let go:

"Its one of those things that people say, you can't move on until you've let go of the past. Letting go is the easy part, its the moving on that's painful. So sometimes we fight it, try and keep things the same, things can't stay the same though. At some point, you have to let go, move on. Because it's the only way we grow"

10. We're still kids:

"After careful consideration and many sleepless nights, here's what I've decided. We move on, we move out, we move away from our families and form our own. But the basic insecurities, the basic fears and all those old wounds just grow up with us. And just when we think life and circumstance have forced us truly to become an adult, your mother says something like that. Or worse, something like that. We get bigger, we get taller, we get older. But, for the most part, we're still a bunch of kids, running around the playground, trying desperately to fit in."

11. Mistakes are inevitable:

"In life only one thing is certain, besides death and taxes... No matter how hard we try, No matter how good our intentions, We are going to make mistakes. We are going to hurt people. We are going to get hurt. And if you're ever going to recover, There's only one thing to say. Forgive and forget. That's what they say. It's good advice, but it's not very practical. When someone hurts us, We want to hurt them back. When someone wrongs us, we want to be right. Without forgiveness, nothing is ever settled. Hurts never heal. And the most we can hope for... Is to forget."

12. You are the sun:

"I'm the sun. And he can go suck it. I'm the sun."

13. Life is short:

"Cause you never think the last time's going to be the last time. You think there will be more. You think you have forever, but you don't. Plus, my conditioner decided to stop working and I think I have brittle bones. I just, I just need something to happen. I need a sign that things are going to change. I need a reason to go on. I need some hope! And in the absence of hope, I need to stay in bed and feel like I might die today."

14. The best stress relief:

“Sometimes you just have to dance it out.”

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
