Spongebob

I do know what your life consisted of as a child, but I can tell you I can fondly remember watching tons of SpongeBob on Saturday mornings. Still to this day I quote it often. Seeing all the hilarious memes on the internet lately, has me reminiscing about my glory days of running around Bikini Bottom with SpongeBob and friends. I did not realize this at the time but this show taught me some valuable life lessons that have stuck with me until today. So without further ado, here are some important tidbits I learned from Boating School.

1. Life is more fun with friends

SpongeBob was ALWAYS getting into shenanigans with the people in Bikini Bottom. Especially good ol' Patrick Star. Even in the episodes where they were fighting, they knew at the end of the day they could not stay mad at each other for long. I learned friendship makes life more rewarding and definitely fun from these loveable goons. This is the REAL duo of the century.

2. Turn up the energy

BOI SpongeBob was a ball of energy the majority of the time. No matter if he was at school, work or facking around, he is giving all of his energy. I know that it is not possible to be like that all the time and SpongeBob knew that too, nevertheless he always tried to put his best foot forward and go through life with a smile on his face and pep in his step.

3. Some days you'll be SpongeBob, and some days you will be Squidward

I don't know about yall the older I get the more I can relate to Squidward on an emotional level. He feels like his hopes and dreams are dashed and most days he is a very grumpy bean. Sometimes life will get to ya and it is okay to just be. Sometimes there will be no play for the day.

4. Adventure is necessary

SpongeBob tried to bring adventure to his life every day. The night could start out with getting their teeth cleaned and end in the PANTY RAID. (Ultimate swindle of this lifetime). They could be selling chocolate or just hanging out at the beach but it was sure to be a good time with the Sponge and the gang.

5. Inclusion is key

No matter what he is doing Spongebob was sure to include all of his friends in his schemes. he let Squidward into his club, he sang songs with Plankton and he made sure to stop by and say what's up to his Star. SpongeBob has always been friendly to everyone he comes in contact with a big smile on his face and love in his spongey heart.

6. Laughter is always the best cure for the emotional suds

Whenever SpongeBob was down he would listen to the voice of reason, Gary Snail, and turn it around with some laughter. Even just some of zingers and one-liners could get everyone rolling on the floor with laughter. Adding a few laughs to lighten your spirit is medicine for the soul.

7. Be who YOU are

BIGGEST LESSON I LEARNED FROM THIS YELLOW GUY IS TO BE YOU. SpongeBob wanted to be the best fry cook, make his friends smile and be the best darn Sponge he could be. He did him and he made his life the best he could under the sea. At the end of the day when he laid down in his snazzy bed, he was content with the day and ready to rock it the only way he knew how, as himself.

I can credit SpongeBob and his adventures for making my childhood magical. I did not realize that he and his friends would teach me important life lessons that I could carry with me! If you have any lessons this show taught you I would love for you share the wealth of knowledge. (But do not let Mr. Krabs hear you, he will come running for that gold.)

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
