Learning To Love Ourselves

How do we learn to love ourselves if the world is trying to change us?

In today's day and age, it is very hard for anyone to be able to actually be satisfied with their own life. By viewing the seemingly perfect lives portrayed in the media, it becomes hard for us to not be jealous of these individuals. We are supposed to be our own person, but sometimes we believe that it would just be easier to become someone else. Our generation needs to begin to love our lives and ourselves, but how do we do that?

1. Stop caring what others think.

Your life is only yours and you need to do what makes you happy.

2. Surround yourself with people who lift you up (literally or figuratively).

Your friends should be the ones who support you in everything that you do. If someone is bringing you down, simply let them go.

3. Be bold and be brave.

Do not be afraid to show off your own unique self. Most people like who you actually are better than your fake self.

4. Stop comparing.

The more you compare yourself with others, the more dissatisfied you will be with your life.

5. Do something that you love.

Your career or job should be something that you're passionate about and that you love to do.

6. Stop trying to please everyone.

There is no reason to bend over backwards in order to make everyone happy. The one person you should be trying to please is you.

7. Find the happiness in life.

8. Live in an honest and moral way.

Not only do you need to be honest with those around you, you also need to be honest with yourself. Your morals should be the core of your conscience and should guide you in every decision that you make.

Living an overall happy life seems like it could be hard, but in reality the main thing you need to do is trust in God's plan and live your life for you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
