Every time I walk into Starbucks, I'd look at their menu and pick a random drink. I had no idea what was the difference between all the options I had since there were so many and there was always too many customers in line to ask about them. I never bothered to look into it till I temporarily worked at a small cafè where I learned how to use an espresso machine! Espresso is the strong back coffee made by forcing steam through grounded coffee beans.
Caffè latte and Cappuccino are the two most popular Italian coffee drinks.
LATTE
• Thin to no layer of foam
• The layer of foam on top should ideally be 1/2 inch in thickness
• Espresso not a must
• Flavor and seasonings are not added
How To Make a Latte (without an espresso machine) !
1. Pour warm milk into espresso
2. Pour the espresso or coffee into a wide, shallow coffee cup
3. Use a large spoon to hold back the milk foam, and pour as much warm milk as you would like into the espresso
CAPPUCCINO
• Thick layer of foam
• The layer of foam on top should be 1/3 of the content in the cup
• Spices are often added
• Flavors and seasonings are added
How to make Cappuccino (without a machine) !
1. Fill your coffee mugs a little less than halfway with the freshly brewed coffee. 2. Slowly pour the heated, frothed milk into the coffee
3. A cappuccino should be equal parts coffee and foam, with about half the amount of milk
Note: If necessary, use a spoon to make sure the foam empties into the cup.
