As the Homecoming season draws to a close many people are saying that there were things left to be desired. So was LALO Fest more fun last year than it was this year? Both of these dances had the same name and were in the same place yet people have said that last year’s dance was better than this year.

Last year for LALO Fest the songs were played fully and there was not a bunch of remixes, so yes the DJ was slightly better last year but did you know that the DJ for the 2017 LALO Fest actually had to cancel last minute and that’s why the half played, remixed songs were not originally what was intended for the dance. Also, although people claim that this year was not as much fun the music was definitely better as for the 2016 dance there was a live band and the DJ and the two would switch off. Not many people enjoyed this and live bands are often a hit or miss and the band sadly was a miss. Dancing to a song is hard in general but throw in a live band and it just made it even harder to, as all they played were covers of songs that aren’t considered dance or club music.

The food this year definitely left a lot to be desired as there were only three places serving food so the lines were extra-long. This was also because two of the food trucks we were supposed to have didn’t even show up. The food was definitely better last year but that was also due to the much larger selection that you could have. Food trucks are often unreliable though because as soon as they find a higher paying gig, they ditch without prior notice.

This year had a few more things to do other than dancing but that was something somewhat ignored by a lot of girls as they were bouncy house type of things that required taking your shoes off in the muddy and grassy area of the band field. Many girls this year were also wearing dresses instead of shorts so one miscalculated jump and not grabbing the top of your dress or the bottom of it could result in a very embarrassing moment to tell to all your friends. Although the idea sounded good, it wasn’t very thought out in the end.

Both last year and this year did have glow paint though and that is always a win, last year for the 2016 LALO Fest you did have to pay for a couple of tubes sadly but they luckily changed that this year to make it free while you were waiting in the excruciatingly long line to get into the dance.

All in all though both of the dances were great fun and there really should be more dances throughout the school year as there is often a great turn out. The student council did a great job planning it and I’m super excited to see what they come up with i

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
