You Know You Have A Crafty Mom When...

You might as well call her super mom since it is pretty much the same thing.

You Know You Have A Crafty Mom When...
Casey Whoolery-Pratt

When God put me on this Earth, he thankfully made me a crafty lady's daughter. This not only came from my mothers amazing talent, but also because it saved money when it was tight. But hey, it paid off because my sister and I were always best dressed every Halloween. I'm also pretty positive I wasn't the only one who was blessed with a super mom, either. So for all of you lucky stinkers who has a mom that crafts too, this one goes out to you!

You know you have a crafty mom when...

1. She tells you to put something back because she can make it for you instead.

Do you remember that really cute head board that she told you she could remake 10x cuter and for half the price? Did it turn out as good as she said it would? Don't answer that, I already know.

2. Every Halloween people asked you where you got your authentic Belle costume.

Oh, this old thing? My mom made it! Snickers, please!

3. She is in a bad mood and you instantly know to blame the Cricut Machine for ruining a 3rd piece of perfectly great vinyl.

Me: "Hey mom, whats for din..."

Mom: "Damn you."

Me: "Okay, I will eat a sandwich."

4. Maybe she is born with it, maybe it's... oh she really is born with it...

No matter how many times she tells you it took years of practice to get that good, you know good and well it just came natural. Don't let her fool you, even her practicing still turns out better than someone else's years of experience.

5. She takes you on crafting retreats and pats you on the back for trying.

Mom! Look at this wall art I made that looks like two 5 year olds were arguing over the markers! "Awe sweetie, I love to see your passion from all of these colors! Trying is all that matters!"

6. You get endless free "practice samples."

When she wants to try out a new things she learns, you are her test dummy. You know what I am talking about: the yummy cake scraps, the water bottle with your name on it, and the room decor that furnishes your room in the most absolutely perfect way!

7. Your entire house looks like a Better Homes and Garden magazine.

Oh, and not to mention the endless stacks of them she has sitting on the living room table she used for inspiration.

These are all tell-tale signs you have a crafty mother, so let's all rejoice together and be thankful. Not everyone can be blessed with one so be proud and follow in her foot steps for your own children! I love you, my crazy crafty mother of mine! Don't ever change!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
