Keeping The Faith During Finals Week

God is present for more than just this week.

Keeping The Faith During Finals Week

Finals week is upon us, and if you're like me, stress gets in the way too easily. This week isn't the only week to lean on God, but it's a chance to recognize if we only seek God's help through our little life battles.

We all have that one friend that we only hear from when they need something. Your relationship with them is more of an acquaintance, rather than friendly. Don't you wish that friend would realize that you aren't just a person that only loves in times of need? God has shown us this constant love through Jesus, therefore, we must love and trust God at all times in our lives, not only when we need Him, because the truth is, whether we think we do or not, we always need Him.

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." Isaiah 43:2

Isn't it interesting how in the smallest battles in life, we often act like it's the hardest part of life? So what if the semester doesn't end as you hoped, even though you tried your best? Maybe that's not God's plan for you. Maybe you aren't in the right place. Maybe it's a wake-up call to trust that God knows what he's doing. That was my problem. I didn't perform how I hoped my first semester of college. With hope in my heart, I had to trust God's timing and plans. Once I switched majors, everything fell into place, and God helped me back on my feet, with the help of his servants, who I now call my best friends. I could've kept going my own way, but God knew I wasn't where I needed to be. He knew all along, and I'm so thankful for a God who loves me, even when I forget to lean on him at all times.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in trouble with the comfort we receive from God."
2 Corinthians 1:3-4

In the middle of all the stress, God is our comfort. He guides us on the path of his perfect plan and teaches us to trust. So next time you feel overwhelmed with school, finals, work, or even just life, pray to God because he always listens. My God is always on time.

"But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness." Psalm 86:15

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
