No matter where you go or what you do, the choices you make will always have an impact on your life, no matter how small they are. There is so much to live for -- lots of laughs and experiences to be had -- and with each waking moment, new opportunities arise. There is no such thing as wasted time if you're making the most of every moment. However, these moments and experiences come to be as a result of decisions -- decisions to be the best that you can be and that will allow you to enjoy life. These decisions can be a bit risky at times but sometimes, the best things in life come from risks. Just ask Elon Musk or Bill Gates.

We all have some sort of fear of the unknown but turn that fear into anticipation and excitement. Sometimes, sending that dreaded text, quitting that stable job, or performing in front of the public may cause some anxiety or worry but do not let emotions control the path you take. Pride, fear, you name it, should never have power over you.

Of course, risk-taking should also not be taken lightly. Be ready to learn lessons if things do not work in your favor. Being strategic about risk-taking is critical if you really want to ensure that you're not completely surprised by any unfortunate results. There is no harm in weighing the pros and cons of a potential outcome, but if you want something, just go for it. Things won't always happen by chance alone, so why wait, especially if the opportunity is right in front of you. Direct your mind and energy towards positivity and take that dreaded risk. Better now than never.

Keep in mind that patience also plays an immense role in risk-taking. Not everything will produce results right away but that is okay. If we got everything we wanted whenever we wanted it, that would diminish the enjoyment there is in the journey or when success is achieved. Anticipation keeps us on our toes.

If a new city is what you yearn for, make the calculated list of things you need to move out of the place you no longer want to call home and make a new one. Is the career you have no longer challenging you? Do your research and find a new path to take. Nothing is set in stone! With each day, comes new experiences, and you have complete authority over how much thrill you add to your life. The excitement you crave may be provided if only you take that leap of faith in yourself, your talents, abilities, and your determination to thrive.

The environment is unchangeable, but you can change who you choose to surround yourself with, how you react to events, and what you do on a daily basis. Keep those people who uplift and motivate you near your side and let go of anything that doesn't. Sure, doing so is risky because losing the comfort of a familiar surrounding and crowd means you might have to tough it out on your own for a few days, months, or years.

But if you have a passion to be elsewhere and to do something entirely foreign and exciting, pursue it relentlessly. No one can take your drive away from you other than you. Stick up for what it is you love and want and be unforgiving about it. Your life may start to brighten up from taking just one simple risk but you won't know unless you try.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
